Emma Bloxham

BBC Lead Producer
UK

Passionate about music from a very young age, Emma grew up in Birmingham and Suffolk and studied clarinet and piano at Junior Guildhall for three years before going on to read music at Oxford University. After postgraduate studies at King’s College London she joined BBC Radio 3 in 1997, and was for many years a producer across the whole of the station’s output, including the Proms. She now oversees Radio 3’s live music output, including lunchtime and evening concerts, the Proms, and opera. Emma also runs the BBC New Generation Artists scheme, which supports some of the world’s finest young instrumentalists, singers and ensembles at the start of their international careers. Widely regarded as one of the best opportunities available to young musicians, the scheme celebrated its 20th anniversary at the start of 2020 and its distinguished list of alumni now numbers well over a hundred. Emma has served on many panels and competition juries, including the preliminary stages of the Leeds International Piano Competition, the Concours International de Piano de Saint-Priest in Lyon, the Young Classical Artists Trust audition panel, and Gold Medal juries at the Royal Northern College of Music and Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
